Making a difference... you can too
People will do amazing things when given an opportunity.
 
This simple philosophy inspires Applecross Rotary's members: both locally and further afield. 
 
We are from all walks of life - we are marketeers, scientists, educators, farmers, engineers, lawyers  and retailers: the list goes on - and we range in age from early 20s through to 80. The commonality we share is an interest to use our time, skills and energy to improve the lives of others. And we have fun while we do it.
 
Our projects are equally varied. From our much-loved Rotary Jacaranda Festival, the Pride of Workmanship Awards, a local Art Show and Sale, numerous youth initiatives as well as supporting indigenous, mental health and women's refuge projects and delivering major health and water based projects around the world that will save thousands of lives.... we're an ambitious club with the power to get things done.

Applecross Rotary meet weekly; and we have a flexible approach to membership. Just be involved; be there only when required for your project outcomes.
 
We meet Tuesday for a 7.30am start, at the Dome Café, Deep Water Point, Mt Pleasant (or via ZOOM if that works for you).

Visitors are the future of our community service outcomes. Check us out at a meeting, a fund raising event or at a social event. Try us on for size.

PERTH MAKERS MARKET COMMUNITY & APPLECROSS ROTARY RAISES $10,000 FOR NEPAL FLOOD VICTIMS IN REMARKABLE SHOW OF GENEROSITY ON FATHER’S DAY

What started as a simple act of community spirit has turned into something truly remarkable. Attendees of the Father's Day Perth Makers Market at Goolugatup Heathcote in Applecross on Sunday 6 September collectively donated $5,000 through voluntary parking donations, and when Applecross Rotary increased their donations, some markedly, the combined contribution reached $10,000 for the RAWCS Nepal Flooding Disaster Relief Fund.

What a way to kick off the second half of Margaret's Presidential Year.  Our club had been involved in many overseas projects funded by a Global Grant but this one is special because it doesn’t help fund a major international project, overseas. 
 
It’s fundamental-kids who can’t hear can’t learn.  If they don’t learn, their future job prospects are limited. We have hundreds of kids like this in WA. Many of them live in rural indigenous communities. Sometimes people ask what we are doing to support local communities with global grants. 
 
Well now we are, at Moora, and addressing a solvable challenge that will change lives. 
 
Congratulations to Chris Whelan for seeing how we could do this and link to his old Alcoa mates who are members of RC Washington in Pennsylvania. Congratulations to Tom Atkinson for landing this, his first as International Director.

Your global grant application for funding to improve access to early intervention speech and hearing services for developmentally vulnerable children by providing audiology equipment and support for integrated ear health and speech programs in Moora, Western Australia., submitted by the Rotary Club of Applecross and the Rotary Club of Washington, has been approved by The Rotary Foundation. The award is in the amount of US$ 59,946.00.
