The 21st Rotary Jacaranda Festival will be held on the 27th of November at its well established home in Applecross Village, and promises to be bigger and better than ever!!

“What started out with very humble beginnings in year 2000 and is now recognised as one of the BEST community Festivals in Perth, continues to charm all who attend,” Kenn Williams, from the organising committee said. “Set  amongst the shady flowering Jacaranda trees and commercial hub of Ardross St., without doubt, it really does take some beating “

Certainly Covid-19 WA Health protocols must be again followed, but it will not have the crowd limitations of last year, as it currently stands. Only a QR Code check-in will be required, as for any other public event.

MORE FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES THIS YEAR.

With a 9.30 am start and concluding at 3.30 pm, it is a very busy day, with lots to see and do, and over 150 street stalls displaying their artisan wares, their services or fabulous food offers.

The ever popular main ENTERTAINMENT STAGE will return, cancelled last year due to Covid risks, and will showcase a wonderful array of talent. This includes The Leeming Big Band and the Two Cent Professionals who have been at the Festival for years, and put on some great entertainment. Also present will be the Elderberry Ukulele Group, Taiko Do with their energetic drum ensemble, a Salsa performance, along with some of our local Primary Schools.
Around the street will be roving performers and Stilt Walkers, face painting and Arty’s Umbrellas. The kids Zone features the ever popular Old McDonalds Farm, Bouncy Castle, Gym Bus and a littlies train ride.

SHOPPING FOR CHRISTMAS APLENTY!

There is truly THE BEST array of potential Christmas gifts to satisfy the MOST choosey, and covering such a wide range of quality goods.
Retail therapy at its very best!!
And don’t forget the businesses of Ardross St who will have lots of specials on offer, as well as coffee service and food options.

FOR FOODIES…

Contemplate a wide array of specialty foods that can be selected, and then eaten, in comfort under the shady zone provided, and again includes our own Brendan Pang and his famous DUMPLINGS. But be prepared and order early because they can run out.

The Good Grocer will also have a wonderful selection of both tastings and tempting meals available.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.  DOING OUR BIT!

This year will be an ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly event, with GO2CUP and The City of Melville combining to minimise waste from the Festival.

Re usable plates and cutlery, and take away coffee cups will be in use, with collection bin sites staffed with volunteers helping visitors make better waste disposal decisions.

Mr Williams said that this was “truly a FIRST for us and similar events and we do hope it encourages  support for the vital respect of our environment.”

LOTS OF COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS are present and will be available with great services or stories to support their roles. St John Ambulance will be on hand for First Aid support, and with an ambulance to check out!

Capital Radio will again broadcast live from the Festival and are great community supporters.

Check out the Applecross Rotary Stand, and see just how Rotary supports its local and world wide areas of need, including charities Stitches of Hope and Mama Respond.

“Everything that Rotary undertakes is voluntary, including the 21 years of the Jacaranda Festival, and our community gains so much from its wide pool of volunteers”, thus,
“Why not enquire about volunteering with Rotary?” Mr Williams stated.

FREE SHUTTLE BUS from the ‘Gold Coin’ parking area (watch for the street directions) to the Festival and return will be once again provided by Melville Cares.

“DONATIONS collected at entry points are the lifeblood of GIVING BACK to our community, and over the years this has added to the several hundred thousand dollars raised by the event for Rotary community distribution”, Mr Williams said.

EVENT SPONSORS.
Lotterywest and the City of Melville continue to be truly wonderful supporters of the Jacaranda Festival, and Applecross Rotary say a sincere thanks for this support.

Applecross Rotary also have generous Club Sponsors who commit year on year to the community work of the Club, and certainly add to the tone of the event.
These Sponsors are The Good Grocer, Mont Property, Pharmacy 777 and Ross North Homes.

“Their support for our work is never taken for granted”, Mr Williams commented.

FEEDBACK ALWAYS WELCOME…

Applecross Rotary do value the feedback from the event, and this can be given through the Applecross Rotary Facebook page or Website.
