Dear Rotarians and friends
What a day we had! The 25th Anniversary Applecross Rotary Jacaranda Festival is done and dusted. It was truly an amazing day. We were blessed with cooler weather which meant the efforts of our team from Applecross Rotary, together with the invaluable support of other Rotary clubs and community groups, were rewarded with huge crowds throughout the day. Our patrons kept arriving, kept staying, kept eating, kept shopping and enjoying the fantastic entertainment right through until the close at 3.30.
The huge team effort only came together through the calm, dedicated efforts over many months of our event Leader, Chris Whelan, to culminate in Sunday’s resounding success.
One group that has provided outstanding support over the years both to Applecross Rotary and to the stallholders is the Waylen Bay Sea Scouts. Their teams of workers are invaluable during the early morning set up and the challenging pack down at the end. Stall holders expressed their gratitude to the willing, capable assistance provided by the teams of WBSSs which many said they believed to be unique to the Jacaranda Festival. It was a pleasure to see their long-term commitment to supporting our community event acknowledged as the worthy recipients of the Mal Taylor Award. This highlights the culture and spirit of the Jacaranda Festival.
As we bask in the warm afterglow of Sunday’s achievements there are a few items of business to consider before we conclude our Rotary year with our Christmas Party at Bad Apple on 7th December.
Let’s keep our community connections alive,
Margaret Brede
