ON THE LOCAL TRAVELS OF Past Pres Ray…. Last week’s clearance of the Greenbatch site at UWA Mt Claremont was a truly sad event, especially when you realise how much this environmentally inspired ‘ save the world from plastics overload’ project had to offer at our community and Rotary level. The work and energy that had been put in by the group behind the project, its resources and schools education program, plastic sorting capability along with the planned manufacturing plant, … just why was it allowed to fail so dismally? That we were unable, or unwilling, to involve State Government support for its sustainability is truly beyond me. So sad, apart from the financial consequences for Rotary and others. For IPP Ray, it has been a gut wrenching outcome, and goodness knows how many days and weeks Ray has put into this project, especially the site clearance last week. Trip after trip, day after day. Feel for you, mate. Our Club’s 60 project bins are now resident at Ray’s home until a new home can be found for them. Any ideas? A big shout out for Mal also in providing an AKA truck with lifter, and 2 full days of effort. The Club trailer was put to good use along with Ronald Bower's trailer. SUNDOWNER.Great turnout at our place for the Sundowner last week. Don’t forget the Curry Night coming up same loco, on Wed, 15th Sept. More from Liz this week. MEETING PROTOCOLS. At the start and close of each meeting, don’t forget that Banners, Badges and the Head Table Setting, along with any curtain sun shading, need to managed. A little support is always welcome! ATTADALE RC has conducted a Club review, part of which has meant a change to regular meeting times and location. This Wednesday, and from here on, they will be meeting at 6 for 6.30 at Swan Yacht Club. We should plan a joint meeting with them at their new venue in due course. CAPE to CAPE WALK. For those who may be interested in undertaking this splendid 124 km, 7 day renowned walk in our own South West, there is an opportunity for Rotary to be a financial beneficiary by getting together a group of up to 13 walkers and participating. Let me know if of interest. Kenn. |
