Another massive Applecross Rotary day, for Jacaranda Festival number 22.
Well, its all over and done with for another year, despite some feedback comment that we should run it quarterly, DO YOU MIND! No Covid to get in the way, the inclement weather sort of moved on in good time, our crowd turned up in numbers and the wonderful volunteer support for this event once more stood tall… in a nutshell, what a truly wonderful community day in every respect.
Anecdotally, spending may be down a little but I understand most of our stall holders were well pleased, and all of our BBQ’s sold out. We will just wait and hear in due course the final wash up for our takings on the day.
The on stage Entertainment really went off with a bang all day, and the newly sited Kids Zone was a real success, as were the street theatre acts. Grt work Liz!
From my observations, all of the hard work in the planning stages, including for the Bump In/Out, new site plan and entry/exit, on the day layout planning and the roles of Erin Madeley in supporting the day, came together very well and possibly exceeded the traditional high standards we set for the event.
Really only one person to take the accolades for what happened on the day: Grand Supremo Chris W. …. What an enormous commitment he made to the success of the day, and loud cheering all round pls! Lots of others certainly carried some weight, but Chris really made it happen. Thank you Chris.
A couple of comments in passing.
- DOGS, DOGS, DOGS. They were there on mass, some even, in order to please their very stupid owners, were off the lead! Not about the poor doggies, about owners showing off their pride and joy. Too much risk for us and we need to say “No dogs” at entry, take them home!
- More Public Parking. As I understand our School Oval was full early on, and we need to be aware of this and plan accordingly.
- Our Ageing Warriors. Year after year we keep turning up, and its not getting any easier.
We will have to plan to take the pressure off some of our key warriors before they either fall wounded or give up the battle and retire!
